Mandal, who attempted self-immolation on Friday, was initially taken to the Provincial Hospital in Malangawa for primary treatment. He was later referred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital in Kathmandu and airlifted there by a Nepali Army helicopter for further care. A hospital source said that despite the continuous efforts of surgeons, Mandal could not be saved.
While Mandal was undergoing treatment on Monday, Prime Minister’s Cabinet members and Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Amresh Kumar Singh visited the hospital to inquire about his health condition.
