Kathmandu, May 24: Madhav Kumar Nepal, co-coordinator of the Nepal Communist Party and former prime minister, departed for Russia on Saturday.
He is travelling at the invitation of the Russian Communist Party to participate in an international communist conference, according to party leader Taj Mohammad Miya.
Nepal is scheduled to address the conference on May 25, which will be held in Russia. During the visit, he is also expected to meet senior Russian Communist Party leaders, including General Secretary Gennady Zyuganov.

Discussions will focus on Nepal–Russia friendship, economic development, and areas of mutual interest.
He is scheduled to return home on May 27.
Party spokesperson Prakash Jwala is also part of the delegation led by Nepal and has accompanied him on the visit.
Party leaders and cadres saw off Nepal and Jwala at Tribhuvan International Airport before their departure.
