KATHMANDU, May 9: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has urged the private sector not to be swayed by rumors that the government is cracking down on industrialists and businessmen.
Speaking at a programme in Kathmandu on Friday evening, he said, “The government has neither prepared nor intends to prepare any list to detain or crack down on private sector entrepreneurs. Please do not fall for rumors. You are our partners.”

Addressing the programme, Finance Minister Wagle also said that the private sector is a key partner in the government’s plan to build a $100 billion economy. He further elaborated on the government’s five priorities.
According to him, the government’s first priority is good governance, followed by economic recovery as the second priority and strengthening internal and external connectivity as the third. Likewise, the fourth priority is social investment, while the fifth is the expansion of soft power through tourism, culture, and history.
