Govt to declare Mukesh living martyr

KAVRE, July 24: Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal inquired about the health condition of Mukesh Kayastha, the ‘living martyr’ of the People’s Movement-II, on Sunday at Kayastha’s home in Banepa, Kavre.



On the occasion, the PM said that the government will forward the process to declare Mukesh as the living martyr. [break]



PM Khanal said the government will take life-long responsibility of Mukesh including his treatment and all others.



The PM also informed the Kayashta family that the government has managed an official to take care of Mukesh and has waived off Rs. 700,000 in loan taken by the family from the Agricultural Development Bank.



Mukesh who had sustained serious injury during the People’s Movement-II has been a bed-ridden for more than 4 years. So far he has gone nine surgeries.



On the occasion, Mukesh’s mother Mira urged the PM to take the peace process to its logical conclusion and expedite the constitution writing process.



PM Khanal stayed for half an hour at the residence of Mukesh this morning.
