During the meeting, Mahawar expressed India’s readiness to assist in post-earthquake reconstruction in Jajarkot and in restoring infrastructure damaged by various disasters.
He noted that India would continue to support the timely completion of the Integrated Check Post under construction in Bhairahawa, as well as other ongoing India-funded projects in Nepal. He also extended an invitation to Minister Aryal to visit India at a mutually convenient time.
Minister Aryal emphasised the need to expedite the construction of the dry port currently being developed at Dodhara-Chandani. He highlighted the government’s recent progress in improving governance, enforcing the rule of law, enhancing service delivery and strengthening public security.
He stressed the need for both countries to bolster cooperation to curb border crimes, theft and smuggling, calling for greater capacity-building of security agencies on both sides. Aryal also underscored the importance of more effective information-sharing between counterpart institutions. Additionally, he urged that construction of the Nepal Police Academy in Panauti, Kavre — being developed with bilateral collaboration — be fast-tracked.
Minister Aryal said the meeting reflected ongoing collaboration between Nepal and India across the spheres of security, infrastructure and disaster response.
