KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa on Saturday said he expects former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Dr Shekhar Koirala and former Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka to play the role of guardians and protectors to help immediately end internal differences within the party.
Talking to reporters before the first meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in the capital on Saturday, Thapa called for all party leaders to come together and settle disputes without delay. He said Deuba should guide leaders across the country and help bring ongoing disagreements to a halt, adding that similar expectations rest with Dr Koirala and Khadka.

Thapa said newly elected office-bearers have already begun dialogue with leaders at different levels and expressed confidence that within a few days all sides would sit together to take collective decisions. He stressed that the party would move forward by accommodating all factions.
Following EC’s decision to recognise Thapa-led NC on Friday, the faction supporting erstwhile President Sher Bahadur Deuba had voiced strong objections and announced both political and legal battle against the EC's ruling.
