KATHMANDU, May 29: A special program was organized at the Army Pavillion in Tundikhel, Kathmandu to celebrate 18th Republic Day.
During the ceremony, the Nepali Army personnel performed a flower shower from a helicopter and displayed a banner reading “Republic Day, 2082.”
Republic Day to be celebrated for three days
On May 28, 2008 (Jestha 15, 2065 BS), the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly abolished the 240-year-old institution of monarchy and declared Nepal a federal democratic republic. Since then, the country has been marking Republic Day every year to commemorate this historic political transformation.
