KATHMANDU, April 20: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has initiated political consultations with senior leaders in a bid to forge broader unity within the party.
As part of this effort, Thapa held a meeting with former acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka on Sunday evening. The meeting took place at Khadka’s residence in Golfutar.

Thapa reached out to Khadka amid ongoing internal differences within the party, aiming to foster an environment of consensus and cooperation.
Speaking after the meeting, Thapa said he had begun dialogue with senior leaders to strengthen unity within the party. He also noted that the recent Supreme Court verdict has created a conducive environment for consolidating the party and moving forward together.
According to Thapa, the court’s decision has opened the door for a renewed collective effort to strengthen the NC.
With the process for the party’s 15th General Convention already underway, Thapa emphasized that it should be viewed as a key opportunity for transformation and organizational strengthening.
He also called on all party leaders and cadres to contribute to making the convention a success and to move the party forward with renewed energy.
