KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Net profits of Nepal’s commercial banks fell in the first quarter of Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26. As per the unaudited statements of 20 commercial banks, the overall net profit declined by 18 percent compared to the same period last fiscal year.
The banks posted a combined net profit of Rs 13.14 billion in the first three months, down from Rs 16.12 billion a year ago. Fifteen banks reported a drop in profit, while Citizens Bank International posted a loss of Rs 2.04 billion.

Global IME Bank earned the highest profit at Rs 1.85 billion, up 22.92 percent year-on-year. Nabil Bank, last year’s top earner, slipped to second with Rs 1.75 billion.
Only five banks saw profit growth: Global IME, Everest, Rastriya Banijya, Sanima and NIC Asia Bank. Rastriya Banijya Bank recorded the strongest surge, with profit rising by 295.72 percent year-on-year.
