KATHMANDU, May 21: A lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has said that party president Rabi Lamichhane remains the undisputed choice for leadership in the upcoming party general convention.
Speaking to journalists at the Federal Parliament premises on Wednesday, RSP MP Ganesh Parajuli said there is no alternative to Lamichhane for the position of party chair and that no internal search for a replacement is underway.
He said the party’s national general convention will begin on June 21, coinciding with the party’s founding anniversary, and will continue until June 23, during which the new leadership will be formally elected.

“RSP is not looking for new leadership, nor are the Nepali people looking for an alternative to Rabi Lamichhane,” Parajuli said, adding that Lamichhane would continue to lead the party.
He said leadership selection procedures, including both election and consensus-based mechanisms, would remain open during the convention in line with democratic practice.
Parajuli also rejected claims of factionalism within the party, saying RSP remains united under a single ideological platform focused on nation-building.
He said that the upcoming convention would formally conclude organizational processes and help strengthen the party structure ahead of future elections.
