KATHMANDU, April 10: Gyanendra Shahi, parliamentary party leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has expressed anger toward the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) after the party withdrew its support for his bid for deputy speaker.
Shahi said he decided to file his candidacy only after RSP leaders proposed his name for the position. However, he accused the party of later changing its stance and backing another candidate.
Speaking about the development, Shahi said the deputy speaker position itself was not a priority for him, but he had agreed to contest after being approached by RSP and considering the possibility of political alignment between established and emerging parties.

He also claimed that while older political parties were holding discussions without including his party, RSP’s earlier proposal had prompted him to join the race.
According to Shahi, the situation later changed as RSP and other established parties appeared to align on the issue.
He argued that the episode had clarified political divisions in the country and sarcastically suggested that despite different labels, both older and newer parties share similar political approaches.
