Three firms fined Rs 30,000 in market monitoring drive

The DoCSCP said such inspections are being carried out regularly in coordination with local administration officials and consumer rights activists to streamline the market and ensure effective enforcement of the law.

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Cracking down on market irregularities, the Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection (DoCSCP) has fined three firms a total of Rs 30,000 during its regular market monitoring and inspection drive.



According to the DoCSCP, Pokharel Traders was fined Rs 15,000, Sulabh Kirana and Food Suppliers Rs 10,000, and Shital Khadyanna Store of Lalitpur Rs 5,000 after inspections uncovered violations of consumer protection norms. The firms were penalized for failing to comply with the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS.

Meanwhile, Chiya Katero Pvt Ltd has been directed to appear at the DoCSCP within three days along with relevant business documents. The department also issued corrective instructions to 10 other firms found wanting during inspections.


The DoCSCP said such inspections are being carried out regularly in coordination with local administration officials and consumer rights activists to streamline the market and ensure effective enforcement of the law.
