The Centre's Vaccine Officer, Ek Narayan Lamsal, said Gandaki Province will soon be declared a province with full vaccination coverage and sustainability.
He said that once all children from birth to 23 months of age receive the required vaccines in a district, it is declared to have achieved full vaccination coverage and sustainability.
Every year, the month of Baisakh is observed as Vaccination Month, during which a "Search and Vaccinate" campaign is conducted to ensure that no child is deprived of vaccines. Governments at all three levels have been prioritizing the vaccination programme.
According to Vaccine Officer Lamsal, the full vaccination campaign has helped reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.
The province's Ministry of Health said that nearly 25,000 children in the designated age group have been brought under the regular immunization programme.
