KATHMANDU, July 15: Five members have been appointed to the Nepal Tourism Board through open competition.
Those appointed on Tuesday are Khum Bahadur Subedi, Santosh Pokharel, Shrijana KC, Pemba Sherpa and Dr Shobhita Shrestha Dhakal.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation stated that they were appointed after evaluation by a selection committee. The selection committee, formed as per the Tourism Act, evaluated the applicants' expertise, qualifications, contributions to tourism, and leadership capacity.
A total of 1,100 persons had applied for the post from across the country.
The open competition was adopted in a bid to ensure transparency in appointments and promote tourism destinations, formulation of relevant tourism policy, attraction of investment and strengthening of public-private partnership.
It is expected that the expertise and leadership of the newly appointed board members would foster sustainable development of tourism in Nepal.
