SURKHET, Oct 12: At least 25* people were killed and 15* others injured as a passenger bus met with a tragic accident in Pina Gaaun (Saatmod) area of Chhayanath Rara Municipality-7 in Mugu district Tuesday afternoon.
The ill-fated bus (Bhe 1 Kha 3136) enroute to Gamgadhi-- the district headquarter of Mugu district-- from Nepalgunj met with the accident in Pina Gaaun area at around 12:30 pm, according to police.

According to Chief District Officer of Mugu Rom Mahat, 25 people are confirmed dead. "At least 15 of those injured in the accident are rescued for the treatment," he said. "The number of those dead and injured could go up further as rescue efforts are currently underway."
Police suspect that most of those travelling on the bus were those returning home to celebrate Dashain festival. The rescue of those injured in the accident is currently underway. A chopper belonging to the Nepal Army (NA) has been mobilized from Surkhet for the rescue of those injured in the accident, police said.
