KATHMANDU, July 23: The ninth edition of the Global Nepali Film Awards 2026 will be held in Sydney, Australia, on December 17, marking the first time the event will take place outside the United States.
The event will be organized under a formal partnership between the Nepal Film Society, Global Nepali Film Awards LLC and Bhara Entertainment Australia.
The agreement was signed by Sanjay Khatiwada, coordinator and representative of the Nepal Film Society and Global Nepali Film Awards LLC, and Arun Shrestha, founder and organizer of Bhara Entertainment Australia.

Nepal Film Society President Krishna Malla joined the signing ceremony virtually. He said hosting the ninth edition in Sydney would mark a new chapter in the history of the Global Nepali Film Awards and congratulated all partner organizations.
The awards have been held annually in the United States since 2018, with eight successful editions recognizing Nepali actors, filmmakers, technicians and media professionals. Organizers say the event has played an important role in promoting Nepali art and culture while strengthening ties among Nepali communities around the world.
According to the organizers, holding the awards outside the US for the first time will further enhance their international profile. They believe Sydney's large Nepali community and vibrant cultural scene will help strengthen artistic and cultural exchanges between Nepal and Australia.
The Nepal Film Society, Global Nepali Film Awards LLC and Bhara Entertainment Australia thanked their partners, sponsors, media organizations and Nepali communities worldwide for their continued support. They also invited audiences to attend the ninth edition in Sydney on December 17, 2026.
The agreement signing ceremony was attended by representatives from various sectors of the Nepali community in Australia.
