KATHMANDU, Jan 28: The Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) has appointed Gaurav Tayal, Managing Director of Surya Nepal, as its vice president. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Chamber’s Executive Committee held on Tuesday, according to a press statement issued by NICCI.
Tayal succeeds Ravi Rayavaram in the role. Having recently assumed charge as Managing Director of Surya Nepal, Tayal now takes on the vice-presidential responsibility at NICCI, further strengthening leadership continuity between the two institutions.

Welcoming the appointment, NICCI President Sunil K.C. expressed confidence in Tayal’s ability to contribute meaningfully to the Chamber’s mission. “Tayal’s engagement with NICCI will add fresh momentum to our initiatives and help the Chamber expand its reach and impact,” K.C. said.
The Executive Committee and the President of NICCI jointly welcomed Tayal and expressed hope that, during his tenure, the Chamber would play a more active role in facilitating bilateral trade, economic cooperation, and broader engagement between Nepal and India, the press statement said.
Tayal is a seasoned corporate leader with extensive experience in managing large and diversified businesses. As Managing Director of Surya Nepal, he oversees the company’s strategic direction, operational excellence, and stakeholder engagement. He is known for his collaborative leadership style and involvement in initiatives promoting sustainable growth and cross-border economic cooperation.
Surya Nepal has been associated with NICCI since the Chamber’s establishment and has remained one of its active members. Tayal’s appointment is viewed as a continuation of this long-standing partnership and shared vision for regional economic collaboration.
NICCI has two vice presidents representing Indian joint ventures and Nepali businesses, respectively. Tayal has been appointed vice president representing Indian joint ventures, while Kunal Kayal serves as vice president representing the Nepali business community, NICCI reported.
