KATHMANDU, March 1: Election staff and materials, including ballot papers, will be transported by helicopter to four polling centers in Humla due to heavy snowfall blocking road access.

According to Regmi, snowfall has obstructed transportation routes, making helicopter deployment necessary. A total of 102 personnel — including 20 election staff, Nepali Army personnel, election police, and Nepal Police officers — along with ballot papers and other election materials, will be airlifted over two days.
The Election Commission (EC) approved the district’s request to use helicopters for transporting staff, security personnel, and materials. Roads at Nara and Nyalu passes leading to Limi are blocked due to snow accumulation. Similarly, the trail to Chala has been obstructed, necessitating air transport. The District Security Committee has categorized these polling centers as highly sensitive due to geographical challenges.
There are 293 registered voters at Sunkhani Basic School in Halji, 247 at Bhrikuti Basic School in Jang, 132 at Himshikhar Basic School in Til, and 159 at Himalaya Basic School in Chala. Many voters are currently outside the district or in Taklakot, China, and efforts are underway to reopen roads to facilitate their travel to Limi for voting.
