KATHMANDU, July 1: The Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment has prepared to import around 210,000 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizer by mid-August.
The ministry has initiated a process to import the required quantity of chemical fertilizer through different channels to ensure an adequate supply for paddy cultivation.

Thirty thousand metric tonnes of urea fertilizer to be imported from India under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement is expected to arrive in Nepal in the first week of August.
Of the 180,000 metric tonnes of chemical fertilizer to be imported through a global tender from different countries, 60,000 metric tonnes will be DAP fertilizer and 120,000 metric tonnes will be urea fertilizer.
The ministry has set a target of importing the highest quantity of chemical fertilizer so far this year. It has also made arrangements to register complaints through a hotline number (9700099113) and QR code from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm if black marketing or irregularities in the distribution of chemical fertilizer are found at the local level.
