PM Shah calls CC meeting to advance CJ appointment process

The main agenda of the meeting is the recommendation for the appointment of the Chief Justice.

KATHMANDU, May 6: A meeting of the Constitutional Council has been called to move forward the process of appointing the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.



The meeting has been scheduled for Thursday at the direction of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, who also chairs the Constitutional Council, according to the Council Secretariat.

As per a notice issued by the Secretariat on Wednesday, the meeting will be held at 5 pm on Thursday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar. The main agenda of the meeting is the recommendation for the appointment of the Chief Justice.


The Secretariat has invited Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal, National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives Bhismaraj Angdembe, and Deputy Speaker Rubi Kumari to attend the meeting.
