KATHMANDU, May 14: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader Bikram Pandey to be released on bail on the scam case related to e-bidding.
Along with Pandey, 10 accused individuals in the case have also been permitted to be released on bail. The court however has sent Diwakar Deuja, a computer operator non-gazetted officer of the Government Nepal, to jail for pre-trial detention.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Deuja two months ago. While the junior government employee has faced prolonged detention, the topnotch leaders and government officials facing the allegation have been relieved.
Earlier, the CIB in its investigation found irregularities in Nepal’s e-bidding system, where 313 contracts were affected after bidders’ confidential documents were allegedly altered. A charge sheet was filed against former Minister Pandey in the Kathmandu District Court last week.
Kalika Construction operator Pandey was found to have reduced the bid amount from Rs 670 million to Rs 600 million by changing the financial documents in the tender he participated in after the bid submission deadline. The CIB had recommended filing cases against the 12 arrested individuals and other absconding defendants for organized crime, electronic transactions, and virtual currency transactions.
Out of 22 people charged by the CIB in the case, 10 accused have been absconding.
