KATHMANDU, Jan 18: CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has formally registered a note of dissent at the party office, objecting to the party’s decision on the distribution of election tickets for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.
The move follows a Secretariat meeting held on Saturday that finalized candidates for 140 constituencies. Bhattarai had publicly expressed his disagreement over the decision and subsequently submitted his written dissent on Sunday, according to UML office sources.
In the note, Bhattarai raised objections on four key grounds, including the absence of clear criteria in ticket allocation, alleged bias during candidate selection and injustice toward party workers. He also argued that the party failed to consider external political challenges while finalizing candidates.

The UML has yet to announce its candidate for Taplejung, a constituency from which Bhattarai has previously contested elections.
Sensing that his name might not be recommended, Bhattarai on Sunday morning urged supporters through social media not to be disheartened and called on them to remain united and actively work to ensure the victory of UML candidates.
“Our journey is long and proud,” Bhattarai wrote, appealing for higher morale and unity within the party. “Do not be disheartened by the decision,” he said.
Sources said Kshitiz Thebe, president of the National Youth Association Nepal (NYAN), the youth wing of the CPN-UML, is likely to receive the ticket from the district.
