KATHMANDU, July 31: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has said that a ‘traitor’ like Madhav Kumar Nepal who toppled the leftist government and paved the way for the formation of a rightist government has no space in the party.
Addressing a function organized by the party’s Kathmandu District Committee in the capital on Saturday, Chairman Oli portrayed Madhav Nepal as a ‘criminal’ involved in toppling the government led by his own party. “The accomplices of reactionary forces involved in toppling the leftist government, forming a rightist government, casting votes in favor of the rightist government, crossing floor in parliament and exiting parliament along with 27 lawmakers when the party’s prime minister seeks a vote of confidence do not have space in the party,” said Oli, while venting his ire against Nepal for ousting him from power.

Although he categorically said that Madhav Nepal does not have any space in the party, Oli appealed to other leaders close to senior leader Nepal to come back to the party and carry out their duties. “We will give an opportunity to other friends if they decide to come back to the party after realizing their mistakes. Please come-- We all built this party,” he further said. “Since the mistake has already happened it is time to work toward correcting the mistakes and work together again.”
Oli, however, claimed that they don’t have to regret or worry if some leaders close to senior leader Nepal decide not to come back to the UML. The harder stance of Oli against senior leader Nepal comes amidst reports that the Nepal-led faction of the UML is preparing to form a new political party of their own and join the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led cabinet.
