KATHMANDU, June 5: The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has issued a notice seeking details of civil servants who have been out of contact after failing to report back to their respective offices upon completing study or extraordinary leave.
The ministry said it has received complaints that some employees on study or extraordinary leave have not returned to duty after their leave ended, have remained out of contact with their offices for a long time, and have not updated their personal details (PIS) at the Department of National Personnel Records.
Bill bars local units from recruiting civil servants
According to the notice, employees whose study or extraordinary leave records have not been updated at the department must update their records within three days from the date of publication of the notice.
Similarly, all ministries, commissions, secretariats, and central-level offices have been instructed to verify the status of employees who were granted study or extraordinary leave at different times, including whether they rejoined after the leave period and other necessary details, in coordination with the department, and to update the records within three days.
The ministry has also indicated that legal action will be initiated against employees who have not reported to the office after their leave expired or have remained out of contact for a long period.
It said the notice was issued to make civil service record management more systematic, transparent, and accountable, and to ensure updated information on the actual status of employees.
