KATHMANDU, April 10: Former Minister for Home Affairs and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak has termed the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission—formed to investigate the incidents of September 8 and 9—as biased and unsubstantiated.
In a social media post on Friday, Lekhak said he was falsely implicated in criminal charges in a prejudiced and vindictive manner and was kept in custody for 13 days.

“Regarding the incidents of September 8 and 9, I was arrested on criminal charges based on a biased, vindictive, incomplete and unsubstantiated report of the commission. I have now been released after 13 days in custody,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to those who raised their voices for his release, he also extended respect to the Supreme Court for issuing a mandamus order that led to his release.
“I express high respect to the respected Supreme Court for issuing the mandamus order. I believe in the rule of law and justice. The legal and political battle will continue,” he added.
Following the Supreme Court order, Lekhak along with former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was released on a personal recognizance bond on Friday.
They were arrested on March 8 on the basis of recommendations from the Karki-led commission, which suggested further investigation into their alleged role in the excessive use of power during the Gen Z Movement on September 8.
