KATHMANDU, April 10: Ruby Kumari Yadav has been elected Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Yadav, a lawmaker from the Shram Sanskriti Party, secured the post with the backing of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, the largest party in the lower house.
During Friday’s voting in the House, lawmakers endorsed a proposal to elect Yadav as deputy speaker. The result was announced by Dol Prasad Aryal.

Earlier, a separate proposal to elect Saraswati Lama of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) as deputy speaker was rejected by a majority of lawmakers.
Following the rejection of Lama’s candidacy, the House proceeded to vote on Yadav’s proposal, leading to her election to the post.
