KATHMANDU, May 25: Prime Minister Balen Shah has called a Cabinet meeting for Monday at 3:30 pm, with the appointment of a new chairperson for the Nepal Securities Board expected to be a key agenda item.
A recommendation committee led by National Planning Commission member Prof D. Sanjay Acharya shortlisted three candidates for the post following interviews held on Friday. The recommended names are Binaya Dev Acharya, Dr Gopal Bhatta and Mukunda Kumar Chhetri. Acharya currently serves as executive director at SEBON, while Bhatt and Kshatri are former executive directors of the Nepal Rastra Bank.
Will Gyanendra Shah return to the throne?
A total of 47 applicants had applied for the position, with four candidates initially shortlisted before one former SEBON executive director was dropped from the final list.
The post has remained vacant for over a month after former SEBON chairperson Santosh Narayan Shrestha resigned on April 17.
