KATHMANDU, July 25: The Parliamentary Party (PP) of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has condemned the alleged mistreatment of House of Representatives (HoR) member Ganesh Paudel, expressing serious concern over an incident in which he was smeared with black soot.
Paudel, who represents Rautahat-4 in the House of Representatives, was allegedly attacked on July 23 while returning from a public meeting.

In a statement issued on Friday, RSP Chief Whip Kabindra Burlakoti denounced the incident, calling it an unacceptable act that undermines democratic norms.
While acknowledging that the right to express dissent and stage protests is guaranteed in a democratic system, the party said violence, intimidation, or any act intended to humiliate public representatives has no place in a democratic society.
The RSP said such incidents weaken the rule of law, erode democratic values, and undermine the culture of peaceful and civilized politics.
The party urged the government and the concerned authorities to carry out an impartial investigation, bring those responsible to justice, make the findings public, and ensure adequate security for public representatives to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The PP also reaffirmed its commitment to democratic values, the rule of law, nonviolent political practices, and the promotion of a civilized society.
