Officials attribute the progress to favourable monsoon rains, which have encouraged farmers to speed up plantation.

Kiran Bishwakarma, Horticulture Development Officer at the Directorate, said that farmers are increasingly using improved paddy seed varieties while making greater use of both chemical and organic fertilizers.

However, farmers in some areas have expressed concerns over inadequate irrigation infrastructure and shortages of fertilizers.
