KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Leader of Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and former finance minister Barshaman Pun has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau after a fabricated election manifesto was circulated on social media in his name.
Pun demanded legal action against those involved, saying the misleading content was intended to confuse voters ahead of the House of Representatives election on March 5. He is contesting from his home district Rolpa.

The complaint states that the materials are false, defamatory and violate Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 as well as the election code of conduct, arguing they undermine free and fair polls and spread social discord.
Pun said rival actors created and shared the fake document to damage his reputation. He addied that his party’s official manifesto is still in its final drafting stage and he has not issued any separate written commitments.
The forged document included pledges such as designating red-light areas in Rolpa Bazaar and Sulichaur, constructing an international airport in Badachaur, establishing a university and campuses in every ward, building a hospital larger than Bir Hospital at the Madichaur football ground, and introducing metro rail and cable car projects in the district.
