KATHMANDU, July 27: Two people riding a scooter were killed after it collided with a mini truck at Tinthana in Chandragiri Municipality, Kathmandu, early Monday morning.
The accident occurred at around 2:58 am on the road section at Chandragiri Municipality, Ward 15. The scooter, bearing registration number Ba Pra 02-038 Pa 9897, was travelling from Satungal towards Kalanki when it collided with a mini truck, Lu 1 Ka 4256, heading in the same direction.

The injured scooter rider and the woman travelling pillion were rescued immediately and taken to Shahid Memorial Hospital in Kalanki. As their condition was critical, both were referred to B and B Hospital in Gwarko, Lalitpur, for further treatment.
Doctors later pronounced the scooter rider, 40-year-old Deepak Nepal of Hariyali, Chandragiri Municipality, Ward 12, dead during treatment.
The pillion rider, 56-year-old Shubhadra Kumari Nepal of Chandragiri Municipality, Ward 14, was declared dead by doctors at 7:05 am.
Following the accident, the scooter was taken into custody by the Kalanki Traffic Police Office, while the mini truck and its driver have been detained by Thankot Police Circle.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
