KATHMANDU, March 27: Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli did not attend the oath-taking ceremony of newly appointed Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah on Friday at Sheetal Niwas.
According to the Office of the President’s Secretariat, Oli had informed in advance that he would be unable to attend the ceremony as he is observing traditional mourning rituals in white attire following the death of his father, Mohan Prasad Oli.

Former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, and Dr Baburam Bhattarai attended the ceremony. Meanwhile, former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba was absent as he is currently abroad; however, he expressed his congratulations and best wishes to Balen on assuming office through social media.
